An original recipe since 1885
Chestnut cream was invented by Clément Faugier in 1885 in his factory in Privas. At the time, it was a matter of recovering the broken pieces of candied chestnuts, but later the cream became a recipe in its own right. The product is obtained from large cooked and kneaded chestnuts, to which sugar, candied syrup and natural vanilla from Madagascar are added.
“Ardèche chestnut cream” has been a registered trademark since 1924. The product is made from AOP Ardèche chestnuts.

Chestnuts are the fruits of the chestnut tree, with a non-partitioned stone (chestnut rather refers to the fruit with two stones, but from the same tree). And Ardèche has been the leading national producer of chestnuts for over a century, providing half of the French harvest.
