Oat Straw Painting 27*22cm:
From July onwards, in the ditches and surrounding fields, cultivated oats and wild oats display their colors, ranging from light gold to dark ochre. At the end of the season, the remaining stubble, infested and dampened by the morning dew, gives the straw dark browns verging on decay.
Collected and left to dry, each strand of straw is opened and ironed on the inside, the iron helping to de-infest and lengthen the straw.
Based on a design cut like a jigsaw puzzle, it is simply a matter of positioning the straw and recreating the pattern, using the principle of marquetry.
