Chestnut syrup, a touch of happiness

Craving a comforting drink? Chestnut syrup will be with you throughout the seasons for sweet moments at any time of day.

An artisanal chestnut syrup that tastes of the local land

This syrup is made from fruit harvested in traditional chestnut groves in Ardèche, places steeped in history, some of them centuries old. Indeed, the chestnut industry has been developing in this locality since the Middle Ages, and it was in Privas that the first crème de marrons factory was founded at the end of the 19th century, thanks to Clément Faugier.

Tasting this chestnut syrup means appreciating the quintessence of the Ardèche region, with all the know-how and passion of the producers. The chestnut trees are maintained in an environmentally friendly way and treated without pesticides. The syrup is made authentically, with an old-fashioned recipe, without preservatives or chemical additives. Indeed, the chestnuts are carefully selected and cooked to obtain a first-class infusion. The beautiful golden brown color comes from the fruit and caramel, which add a unique aroma to the whole.

How to enjoy chestnut syrup?

Like other syrups, chestnut syrup can be used to make a refreshing drink. Added to fresh water, it delights both young and old. You can also add it to your lemonade or hot drinks such as coffee or tea.

And for an original aperitif reminiscent of Ardèche, try the castagnou, a delicious kir obtained by mixing chestnut syrup with white wine or champagne. Accompany it with artisanal dry sausage and your guests will be delighted!

Chestnut syrup in cooking

Chestnut syrup also has its place in cooking, in your favorite sweet recipes. This little secret will give your pastries and sweets an original and rustic touch. For example, you can add it to your classic preparations: cakes, muffins, madeleines... It is also perfect in pancake batter. If you use chestnut flour, it's even better! Its beautiful fragrance also marries wonderfully with that of other fruits. Feel free to incorporate it into your apple pies for a grandmother's-style dessert.

For the more daring, chestnut syrup can be added to savory dishes. A small spoonful poured over a guinea fowl or beef dish before putting them in the oven will bring an exclusive note that only connoisseurs will appreciate!
