Roustido beer with roasted chestnuts
Looking for a beer that is typical of the Ardèche? Roustido is a craft blonde ale brewed with roasted chestnuts, the emblematic fruit of the Ardèche. It is brewed by the Brasserie des Rieux.
Roasted chestnut in the recipe
Roasted chestnut goes into the recipe alongside water, barley and wheat malts, hops and yeast. It is what gives this blonde ale its name and roots it in its region.
Natural, unfiltered, unpasteurised
Roustido is refermented in the bottle: the yeast carries on working after bottling. It is neither filtered nor pasteurised. That is what accounts for the sediment at the bottom of the bottle — a perfectly natural deposit, the sign of a living beer.
Storing and serving
Keep the bottle upright so that the sediment stays at the bottom. Serve Roustido chilled, and pour slowly if you would rather leave the sediment in the bottle.
With an aperitif
A craft blonde ale is a natural match for a board of dry charcuterie: dry sausage, grignottes, terrine or Ardèche cheese.
