Each autumn, the same question comes round: which saucisson advent calendar should you choose? The selection has grown considerably over the last five years, prices range from single to quadruple, and product pages rarely compare like with like. So we did the work.
A word of honesty before we start: we make two of the boxes in this comparison ourselves — our 2026 saucisson advent calendar and its small-format version. We therefore make no claim to neutrality — but we do commit to accuracy. Every figure below is a public record, dated 14 August 2026, and you can check it yourself. We also say plainly where we are not the best choice.
What criteria for comparing salami advent calendars?
We looked at saucisson advent calendars sold online and delivered anywhere in France. That criterion deliberately leaves out boxes available in shops only — the Grand Frais one, for instance, sold at the butchery counter — because they do not answer the same need and cannot be ordered for delivery. It likewise leaves out boxes that a maker sells only to the trade.
We also left out mixed boxes pairing charcuterie with wine, whose price is not comparable.
Price, weight and quantity: our 2026 comparison table
Recorded on 14 August 2026, updated on 16 September 2026. Prices are those shown for pre-order and may change.
| Box | Price | Pieces | Weight | Price per kilo |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| La Boutique Des Saucissons | €49.00 | 87 | 818 g | €59.90 |
| La Boutique Des Saucissons — small format | €34.90 | 70 | 476 g | €73.32 |
| Le Monde du Saucisson (Maison Chillet) | €34.90 | 25 | 375 g | €93.07 |
| Ici Présent (La Fabrique des Saucissons) | €34.90 | 60 | 360 g | €96.94 |
| Loste Tradition | €32.90 | 48 | 300 g | €109.67 |
| Maison Lascours | €29.95 | 36 | not disclosed | — |
| Justin Bridou | €29.99 | 24 | not disclosed | — |
| Ici Présent Classique | €24.90 | 33 | 180 g | €138.33 |
| Auchan | €19.99 | not disclosed | not disclosed | — |
Several brands do not publish the weight of their box. That is legitimate, but it is also the single most useful figure for comparison — more on that below.
Correction of 3 September 2026: an earlier version of this table carried a line for “Maison Chillet · €22.80”. Maison Chillet makes the box sold by Le Monde du Saucisson, but it does not sell to consumers and that figure is a trade price. It was therefore not comparable with the public prices in the table, and the line has been removed.
Addition of 16 September 2026: our small format joins the table. At €34.90 it sits directly against three boxes sold at the same price.
The real criterion: price per kilo
A calendar at €19.99 looks more attractive than one at €49. Measured by weight, the reading often reverses.
Across the six boxes whose weight is public, the gap is clear: €59.90 per kilo for our 818 g box, €73.32 for our small format, €93.07 for Le Monde du Saucisson, €96.94 for Ici Présent, €109.67 for Loste Tradition and €138.33 for Ici Présent's Classique. Between the two extremes, that is a ratio of more than double for comparable artisan quality.
The explanation lies in the format. Most calendars offer one piece a day. Ours offers four: 21 doors hold four bite-size salami each, and the last three a whole dry-cured sausage. That is what accounts for the 818 g. The small format offers three a day, for 476 g — still roughly double the boxes sold at the same price.
Our advice, even if you do not choose ours: before buying, look for the total weight. If it is not stated, ask for it. A calendar of 24 mini salami weighing 6 g each comes to 144 g — which, at €30, is more than €200 per kilo.
Does Cochonou make an advent calendar?
It is one of the most frequent searches on the subject, and the answer is surprising: to our knowledge, Cochonou is not selling a saucisson advent calendar in 2026. The brand has run promotional campaigns around the idea in the past, notably competitions on its social channels, but no box is on sale as of the date of this comparison.
If that is what you were looking for, the closest equivalents in spirit and price are the Justin Bridou calendar (24 mini salami, €29.99) or the Auchan one (€19.99), both from industrial charcuterie.
Artisan or industrial: what actually differs
The word “artisan” is used a great deal in this market. Three criteria settle it in practice.
- The casing. An artisan salami is filled into a natural pork casing. Industry most often uses reconstituted casings, more regular and cheaper.
- Curing time. Allow three weeks minimum for traditional drying. Accelerated processes come down to a few days, at the expense of aroma.
- The origin of the meat. “Origin France” is a verifiable statement. Without it, the meat may come from several countries.
These criteria do not make industrial products bad: at €19.99, a supermarket calendar does its job perfectly well if the aim is to fill 24 days cheaply. They simply explain the price gap, and what you get for paying it.
Producer or reseller: who are you buying from?
One detail often goes unnoticed: most of the sites selling saucisson advent calendars do not make them. They are gift-box shops or online grocers who commission production, or who resell.
That is no failing in itself — these sites do real work of selection. But it adds an intermediary, and therefore a margin. Buying directly from the charcutier who makes it means paying for the product rather than the chain.
To know who you are dealing with, look on the site for the address of the workshop and the name of the maker. If they are not there, you are probably at a reseller. That is why the table above names the maker in brackets whenever it differs from the seller.
Our box, in full transparency
The 2026 saucisson advent calendar is made in our workshops in Joyeuse, in the Ardèche, by the artisans of Charcuteries Debroas. This edition holds 24 doors, 87 pieces and 818 g, for €49 with delivery included.
We were the first to slip whole dry-cured sausages into the doors of an advent calendar. On three days of the month you do not open a mouthful but enough charcuterie for the whole table.
Since this edition, the same box also exists in a smaller size: 24 doors, 70 pieces and 476 g for €34.90, with three bite-size salami a day and one whole truffle sausage behind the final door. Same workshop, same curing, a lower entry price.
Where we are not the right choice: if your budget is under €30, other boxes will suit you better. If you want strictly one piece a day and nothing more, ours is oversized. And if you want a calendar pairing charcuterie with wine, we do not make one.
How to choose for your situation
- Small budget — supermarket boxes, between €20 and €30, do the job.
- Around €35 — this is where most boxes cluster, and therefore where weight makes the biggest difference: from 360 g to 476 g for the same money.
- A gift for a real enthusiast — look at the weight and at whether whole sausages are included, rather than the piece count, which is easily inflated with very small formats.
- To share with family or colleagues — aim for at least 500 g, or the box empties in a few days.
- For a corporate or staff gift — check the deadlines above all: calendars are ordered in October and handed out before the holidays. Our terms are set out on our professional space and on our associations, works councils and schools page.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best saucisson advent calendar in 2026?
There is no single answer: it depends on your budget and on the use. On quantity for the money, measured per kilo, the gap runs from €60 to more than €138 per kilo among the boxes whose weight is public.
How much does a saucisson advent calendar cost?
Between €20 and €50 for boxes that are 100% charcuterie and sold online. Above that, they are generally mixed boxes including wine.
When should you order?
Before the end of November, and ideally in October. These boxes are made in limited quantities and they sell out in December.
How do you keep the salami from a calendar?
Somewhere dry and cool, below 18 °C. Very small formats dry out quickly once their door is open: best eaten within the following days.
